Question#8
What can I do to become a succeddful home health aide nurse
No
matter how old you are, where you’re from or what you do for a living, we all
share something in common, a desire to become successful. We all want to
achieve success so we could live a better life. Never be scared to fail, it’s
just another chance for you to star over and do it better. “Attitudes are
infectious so, the attitude, outlook and actions of the people that you
associate or interact with on a regular basis have a very significant influence
on your attitude and actions” (http://www.contentedlife.org).
As a nurse it’s good to show a positive attitude around the patients. Success
is about getting all that you wanted to have. It's finding that you have
achieved your goals or fulfilled your plans.
Question#7
What are
some Benefits of Home Health Care?
There are many benefits to
home health care as an option to help seniors. The number one benefit of home health care is that
it allows patients to receive personal care and privacy of their own home.
The primary benefits of home health
care include:
•
Delivered in the comfort of the patient's home
• Easier for family and friends to visit
• Promotes healing and provides more safety from infections
• Allows more freedom and independence
• More affordable than inpatient care • Tailored to the needs of each individual patient
• Reduces re-hospitalizations (http://www.havenhomehealth.com)

• Reduces re-hospitalizations (http://www.havenhomehealth.com)
This allows you to be at home, with your own
family, and to learn how to manage your physical restraints in your own home. “One of the best
benefits of home health care is the services offered by the social work team.
Social workers are available to help patients take care of any needs that might
be affecting their health improvement” (http://www.livestrong.com).
Using home health care is a good way to get the respite
you need. Sometimes it's a real struggle to find time between caring for
parents or other relatives and taking care of your own needs.

Question#6
What are some things you can do to help a love one/patient
One thing you can do to help your loved one is write down the things you think a patient might need to know about their needs, likes/dislikes, habits, and personality issues. This can be brief, but will go a long way toward helping both your loved one and the patient to adjust. Imagine yourself just walking into a house to take care of a stranger and the things you would want to know about them. As a nurse it’s important to know what kind of habits the patient has, and how good they are with controlling them. ‘While home care typically includes chore and housecleaning services, home health care usually involves helping seniors recover from an illness or injury. That is why the people who provide home health care are often licensed practical nurses, therapists, or home health aides”( http://www.eldercare.gov). Home health care helps seniors live independently for as long as possible.

Question#5
What are some disadvantages and Advantages of becoming a home health care nurse
Becoming
a home health care nurse comes with several disadvantages. Watching a close
family member’s health can be very hurtful depending on how well you can handle
things like that. When taking care of a senior patient you are held responsible
for whatever happens to them. Such as falling, and not taking medication. Some
advantages for becoming a home health care nurse are that you get to make really
good bonds with the patients.” We provide care
overseen by a licensed nurse care manager, who draws up a plan of recommended
care and matches the individual with a skilled, companionable”( http://www.advantage-homecare.com).
Which means and agency is going to make sure that the nurse has all the requirements
its takes to take care of an elderly person. Home care nurses
are much reliable than getting the services from those who do not know how to
handle critical situations. “We are always
worried if our loved ones does not eat on time or eat nutritiously especially
if we cannot be there to give them a meal. On the other hand, not being able to
provide timely medications may jeopardize your love ones’ health. Having home
care nurses will make sure that your loved ones can eat a balance diet, take
their medications on time and receive immediate medical care” (http://eldercareabcblog.com). No one
wants a nurse who isn’t going to watch and take care of their health, so it’s
important that you watch everything you feed them.

Question#2
What type of education is required for home health aide?
Home health care aides are not required to have a college degree or high school diploma. “To become a certified home health care nurse, it is required to study an academic program in home care" (http://www.learn4good.com).Although if a nurse wants extra experience such as a registered nurse they must attend a two year college. MMTC would be a great choice for that career. Students may also receive training on working with people who need more help. Most people decide to work at home before their coursework start. "This means that a career as a home health aide is a good option for those looking to gain employment in the healthcare industry in a very short timeframe"
(http://myfootpath.com). Personally, when dealing with sick and ill people its best that you train for it and not rush into it.

The story behind my topic choice
I plan on doing 10 hours of community service by volunteering at the nursing home in Loris. There are several places to do community service, but Loris would be the best place to start. To help senior citizens in another way, we show our senior friends that they are apart of the community as everyone else. My community service will begin by picking up medication, racking leaves for the elderly, helping with the cleaning, and delivering meals.
